Our Work

Empowering Lives, Changing Communities: See the Impact of Your Support:

We are proud to have made a difference in the lives of countless young individuals and their families in New York and beyond. We refer mental health counseling to help them navigate difficult situations, career counseling to help them achieve their goals, and safe shelter to protect them from harm. We are committed to reduce crime rates in underprivileged communities by referring support and resources to young individuals at risk.

Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

LOCAL Closer Look: Love Thy Neighbor New York

Peter Kaye speaks with Althea Belton, founder of Love Thy Neighbor New York a local community action organization committed to empowering at-risk youth by providing them with the necessary support, resources, and opportunities to break free from the cycle of poverty and achieve a brighter future. Belton draws from her own experience growing up in the Bronx and gives compares the different challenged youth face today and well as the changing culture of the community. She shares future plans Love Thy Neighbor has to develop 50 acres in the Catskills to provide year-round programming to at risk youth.

Creating a Brighter Future for the
Next Generation

Our Mission

The mission of Love Thy Neighbor NY (LTNNY) is to empower at-risk youth by referring them with the necessary support, resources and opportunities to break free from the cycle of poverty and achieve a brighter future. We are committed to creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where these vulnerable young individuals can regain their self-worth, build resilience, and develop the skills needed to lead independent and successful lives.

Our Vision

The Vision of LTNNY is a world where all at-risk youth are empowered, resilient and equipped with the tools to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. By referring relevant programs and transitional/low-income housing for youth and young male adult males in crisis, we envision a society that recognizes the inherent worth and potential of every young individual. In this future, no young person will face the barriers of homelessness, addiction, poverty or neglect alone. We stand united in our commitment to transforming the lives of at-risk youth in Harlem and the Bronx, where every young person has the opportunity to thrive.

Our Goals

• To refer mental health and career counseling services to young male teenagers in need.
• To refer safe and affordable housing for low-income families.
• To offer spiritual guidance and support to young male teenagers.
• To work towards reducing crime rates among black male teens.
• To raise awareness and funds to support our mission and programs.
